DC box level availability at Insolar portal can be found as SMU level availability.

For the scope of this article the term DC box level availability will be used.


DC box availability at DC box level shows if a DC box is producing or not (it takes values 0 or 1). 

DC box availability at site level is calculated as the weighted average from the DC box availability values. 

DC box availability at site level must not be compared with string availability at site level. 

  • If DC box availability is lower than 100%, then at least 1 DC box is not producing (so all of each strings are inactive). 
  • If string level availability is lower than 100%, then at least 1 string is not producing.


DC box Availability calculation at DC box level

In each DC box, if the irradiance exceeds the "Irradiance threshold for availability calculation"  and if DC boc putput current is > "DC box output current Availability threshold", then DC box availability receives the value "1" for this quarter of hour.


You can find the "Irradiance threshold for availability calculation" and "DC box output current Availability threshold", in the tab "Settings" as shown below. You can edit the Settings by  the "Edit" icon.


DC box Availability calculation at site level

DC box availability at site level is calculated as weighted average of the availability values of all the DC boxes.


Let's suppose that there k DC boxes in the site. The formula is

DC box level availability=100%*(dcbox1_AL*dcbox1_nominalpower+ ... +dcboxk_AL*dcboxk_nominalpower)/(Site Nominal Power), as long as the condition "Irradiance PoA Average" > "Irradiance threshold for availability calculation" is satisfied.
