• Measure the voltage of the device's power supply unit. The appropriate value is around 24V.

    • Measure the resistance in the channel of RSC10-210, on which the pyranometer/thermometer is connected. Unplug the terminal and measure the resistance between channel pins A and B.


      • If the resistance is around 50Ω, that means that there is no problem with the channel and the cabling must be checked.

      • If the resistance is over 50Ω, then there is a problem with the specific channel and the pyranometer/thermometer is most probably needed to be put in another (spare and calibrated) channel for 4-20mA input signal but this will not happen until it is ensured that the voltage that is returned to the channel from the device is safe and acceptable.

    • The expected returned voltage value from the device (when the input of the rsc10-210 card is in the air) is most of the times within the range of 22 < value < 24 volt. Values greater than 24 volt indicate a problem with the device or the cabling and this voltage could have damaged our channel or damage the new channel we choose.

    • If the measured voltage is not within the acceptable value range, you should leave only the 24 volt power supply cable connected to the pyranometer and check the return voltage without any cables on the device.

    • If this value is 0V, then the pyranometer returns nothing and this indicates that it is faulty.

    • If the value is 24V+ this, again, points that the pyranometer is faulty as no voltage is consumed by the device itself.

    • If you get erratic values, it is an indication that there is a short circuit problem. What we are looking for is a steady DC voltage output under 24 volts

    • Assuming that a steady DC voltage is measured. Returning from the pyranometer, you can now plug the cable and measure this voltage again.

    • If this voltage changes dramatically, then there is an issue with the cabling.

    • If it does not change, you should be able to proceed and change the channel and the pyranometer should be operational.

    • When a channel that has a 50 ohm resistance is found and the voltage that is returned from the device to this channel is steady and less than 24 Volt, you can plug in the input. The return voltage with the input plugged in, should be in the range of 0.2-0.9 Volts.

    • If the pyranometer is completely shaded, the correct value is 0,2V.

    • If all the measurements are as expected, our support team shall be informed in order to make the appropriate software changes.
